Preparing for Verizon Negotiations
Jan 05, 2026

Rebuild Strength From Within

As you know, our current collective bargaining agreements with Verizon expire on August 1, 2026. Verizon, CWA, and IBEW have agreed to begin meeting in January (no dates yet) for a limited period to explore the possibility of a contract extension. We remain focused on our members’ priorities and will keep you updated on the outcome of these discussions.

Before we confront external pressure, before we negotiate, and before we mobilize, we must first strengthen ourselves internally. A strong contract fight starts with a strong foundation. That is why the Local 1103 Executive Board met with Verizon members and leadership over the past month—to begin building that foundation.

On Wednesday, January 7, we will meet with our Verizon Chief Stewards and Stewards to continue our preparedness program and ensure we are ready for potential mobilization. While we hope early discussions lead to an agreement, we know from experience—particularly the failed effort over the summer—that we must be fully prepared if this process breaks down.

Please commit to your stewards and your co-workers that you will do whatever it takes to secure a fair contract and that you will stand united at all times.

In unity,

Kevin Sheil, President, CWA Local 1103
