Labor Day Message 

Sisters and Brothers,

On this Labor Day 2026, we honor the generations of working Americans whose courage, sacrifice, and solidarity helped build this nation and continue to keep it moving forward. Labor Day is a time to recognize the achievements of the labor movement — and to recommit ourselves to protecting the rights, dignity, and security that working people fought so hard to win.

As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we are reminded of another powerful example of labor’s commitment to our communities and our country. In the days, weeks, and months following the attacks, union members from countless trades and professions answered the call. Telecommunications workers restored vital communications and networks, building trades workers helped with the massive cleanup and recovery effort, transportation and utility workers kept essential services operating, and countless other working men and women put themselves in harm’s way to help rebuild.

That spirit of service and solidarity is at the heart of what Labor Day represents.

To every member who has the day off, we hope you have the opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend time with your loved ones. To those who must work — providing essential services and keeping our communities safe, healthy, and functioning — we thank you. Your dedication on a day dedicated to honoring workers does not go unnoticed.

Labor Day is more than a holiday or the unofficial end of summer. It is a reminder that working people have always been at the center of America’s strength. From building our infrastructure and connecting our communities to responding when disaster strikes, it is working people who answer the call.

And while we celebrate what previous generations accomplished, we cannot take those victories for granted. Workers today face continued challenges to our wages, benefits, job security, retirement security, and right to have a meaningful voice on the job. The rights we enjoy were not given to us — they were organized, negotiated, and fought for.

On behalf of your Local 1103 Executive Board, we remain committed to carrying that fight forward. We will continue standing together for fair wages, safe working conditions, secure retirements, good union jobs, and dignity and respect for every member.

So today, take pride in the work you do and in the union you belong to. Remember those who came before us, honor those who made sacrifices for others, and recognize the strength we have when we stand together.
