CWA District 1/and IBEW New England Regional Committees as well as the CWA/IBEW Mid Atlantic Regional Bargaining Committee will be returning to the Rye Town Hilton today October 25, 2011.

The union left the hotel after the company walked out on bargaining, so that every Member in District 1, every CWA member could be told exactly what the latest company proposal would... mean to their future. So We told our members all the facts.

Cwa’s Local 1103 executive Board held an emergency meeting and declared an emergency meeting for our Chiefs and stewards last Tuesday night, at the emergency meeting we explained to our Chiefs and stewards that this Company was still trying to destroy our middle class way of life even while earning billions of dollars in profits. We told our Chiefs and stewards that a failure to mobilize for a just contract was not an option. Our Chiefs and stewards then participated in a CWA District 1 conference call on Wednesday night where a consistent message was heard from the night before.

On Thursday there were workplace meetings held throughout CWA Local 1103 and throughout CWA District 1. On Friday night, your 1103 Executive Board, along with over 60 Local 1103 Members, attended the rally at 140 west st and then joined a march through Zuccotti park and then onto Wall street to fight for our contract, our jobs, and our future. Through out it all, our Members have told us consistently to shine a light on the Company’s Greed and to continue to fight for a fair contract. Our members told us that they are not willing to give up 50 years of collective bargaining victories to a company that is trying to destroy the middle class while making huge profits.

Our members know the facts – all the facts.

It is important now to take those facts to the public as we did in August and continue to mobilize, mobilize and mobilize.

August was the preseason…we are now moving into the regular season. Our efforts will only grow stronger. Failure is not an option!!!
